In support of the overall mission and objectives of the OIG, the Office of Investigations works to investigate allegations and complaints involving fraud, waste, and abuse in Metro operations, programs, and activities. The OIG receives complaints and allegations from a variety of sources, including Metro employees and members of the public, and responds timely, professionally, and thoroughly in the investigation of such matters. Investigative matters usually include the following categories:
In support of the OIG’s mission, the Office of Audits is responsible for evaluating the adequacy of policies and procedures, testing to ensure that internal controls are functioning as intended, and recommending corrective actions so that Metro assets are better protected against fraud, waste, and abuse. OIG auditors adhere to professional auditing standards as promulgated in the Government Auditing Standards published by the Controller General of the United States.
